Carla-new

Carla Shipley, Executive Director

“Finding my home at Solera Senior Living fills my heart with happiness,” says Carla. With 40 years of experience in senior living, she’s spent a lifetime serving older adults, starting as a child volunteering with her mother to help senior adults with household chores, grocery shopping, and errands.

She didn’t stop there. While pursuing her Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work at Hood College, Carla worked in group homes and became a Long-Term Care Nursing Home Administrator managing nursing and assisted living facilities, as well as independent living communities.

For her, compassion speaks the loudest. “We must never forget we work in our residents’ homes,” she says. “I strive to put myself in their shoes with each decision that is made.” Spending time with residents at Hunters Woods is what she most enjoys. “I enjoy when they just stop by to say ‘hi,’ as well as partnering with them to develop new and innovative programs.”

In her free time, Carla enjoys watching movies, Washington Commanders football, and time with her family, which includes her “amazing” husband and two grown children. And don’t forget Lyla, a chihuahua who comes to work with her each day.

Carla also boasts a hidden talent as a bartender. “I love to create fun cocktails or put a spin on a classic,” she says. Fun fact: Carla’s Cosmo is a featured drink in a local restaurant.

Perfect vacation: traveling in Europe, sitting at the ocean, or escaping to the mountains.
