Driven by a passion for helping seniors, as well as for service, continuous learning, and improving people’s lives, Bernard draws from his diverse expertise daily.

As Human Resources Operations Manager, Bernard oversees helping new team members successfully navigate orientation. He is dedicated to strengthening retention, enhancing compliance, and building a supportive culture for staff and residents.
Serving with compassion has always driven Bernard. Before his current position, Bernard was an assistant in the Business Office and also served as a trusted bus driver, allowing him to build rapport with residents. “Employees consistently displaying empathy, patience and respect in their daily reactions with residents and team members, amid challenges, always puts a smile on my face,” says Bernard.

Bernard’s career spans healthcare education, behavioral health, and animal science. He has served as an Anatomy & Physiology Instructor at the American School of Nursing and Allied Health. He also has trained and mentored LPN students, developed curriculum-aligned laboratory experiences, and provided students with individualized coaching. Bernard is a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP), holds a Virginia Life & Annuities License, and maintains CPR/First Air certification through the American Red Cross.

His diverse career includes leadership roles in behavioral health, assisting individuals with developmental disabilities (among other responsibilities), and managing multi-department farm operations. He taught high school biology for 10 years.
Bernard earned a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture as well as an MPhil in Animal Science at University of Ghana. He is pursuing a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.

Married with two daughters, this multifaceted professional likes learning new things and is always looking for ways to improve. Fixing things at home (DIY) is a passion, as is reading and watching movies with his daughters and enjoying his favorite dish, Jollof Rice. Favorite vacation always is traveling to Ghana to visit parents; however, a tropical vacation is also a great choice.
